What on earth do I do with this dog?

Yesterday marked the ninth anniversary of a major acquisition in our family. Before that point, we had always had puppies. We would buy the puppy either
from the owner or from another source, and we would train it from there. Additionally, we always had male dogs. But, March 21 of 2008 change that.

Lita came to us in quite a mess. She had just been spayed, and she had lived in the dog pound. The pound people indicated that she was two years old. A
learning experience was in store for all of us.

I met a mother with two children and a wonderful husband. The children were well behaved and the husband had supported them throughout their marriage.
They had a nice house and enough of everything they needed so they should be very happy, but the lady of the house wasn’t.

There aren’t too many things that she wanted to do in life and yet she has never done any of them. Why because her family or her husband always had a good
reason why not to do them. Here they are:

The characteristics of Grace

In this blog entry, we’re going to take a quick look at one of the most important key elements of our christian faith… Grace.

Before we start really talking a lot however about the topic of grace, I think it’s important that we first understand the source of where all things representing
grace come from… In other words, what is the main outlet, if you will, for grace?

At the end of the day, we could sum it up many different ways. The truth of the matter however is, all grace comes from God. Let me say that again… All
grace comes from God.

Make Your Yes Be Yes

I admit it. I’m a serious person. Perhaps I’m too serious for my own good. But, God put something very important in his Word, which reminded me of a situation
which got my hackles up pretty high earlier today.

In Matthew 5:37 NKJV, Jesus says:

But let your Yes’ be Yes, and your No, No. For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

Boy bird meets girl bird: a lesson in grounding and centering

The president is under constant threat of coup d’état from within, bloodless or otherwise. The Fed has raised interest rates, and people are worried. The
education system is a mess of messes.

Wait a minute though, as something is amiss. It’s springtime here in the Sonoran desert. I’m sitting out on my patio having a drink and listening to God’s
creation in motion. Thoughts of summer evenings in the pool with friends accompanying most of my time are beginning to surface. Is this how I keep myself
grounded and centered in God?

Out of Sight Insides

You’re lazy! You’re too slow! You’re not smart enough! You’re not as cute as ______! You’re too fat! I would never do that! Why would you want to do that?
You don’t need that! Can’t you get it right?

Ben doesn’t relate to children, but he’s devastated when they’re absent for Easter.

Grandma peels the potatoes. Mom bakes the brownies. Dad sets a timer for the ham bake. Hey, somebody’s phone is ringing. Oh, sweet, it’s Ben’s brother.
As it turns out, the youngest of his boys has acquired strep throat. Discussions occur. It’s deemed more prudent to nix the boys from the equasion due
to decreased immune systems. You should see Ben’s face!

We often respond in anger to people and situations that we feel are degrading, unjust, or immoral. Have you ever wondered why? It is likely that your character
feels threatened. Should it? No, because you are the one who developed it and therefore you can change it anytime you want to.

If we feel that someone is degrading us we shouldn’t. God created us all as equals. Since there is no one better than you they don’t have the power to
degrade you unless you give it to them. If you did give it to them then take it away from them.

Honoring Parents

What does it mean to honor your parents?

To honor means to show respect. Verses such as Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:15; Matthew 19:19; and Luke 18:20 paint a picture of how important it is to
honor ones parents.

Does that apply to abusive parents as well? Unfortunately, the bible doesn’t make any exceptions. However, parents are instructed not to provoke (push/entice)
their children to anger. Instead they are to teach and guide their children (Ephesians 6:4).

Letting Satan win

So I wake up this morning around 11:15 AM to find that some other van has hit some other crowd in some other city. Today, it happens to be Barcelona, Spain.
It’s sad. It’s deplorable. It’s demonic. Vehicles are meant to be on the road, not in the crowd. As a blind person, vehicles on the road can be scary enough
when crossing streets. God for bid I be in a crowd and all the sudden there’s a big truck or a van there. But, alas, I digress.
