Chasing Waters

“The beginning of strife is like letting out water. So abandon the quarrel before it breaks out.” Proverbs 17:14

A good day to you! to you! Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone in your workplace and in your particular industry spoke kindly, courteously, respectfully,
and selflessly? Unfortunately, that’s a pipe dream. It is even more unfortunate when we (you and I) are the ones who do not speak kindly or in a Christ-like
way to those with whom we intersect on a daily basis in our work environments.

DON’T REFUSE A BLESSING

Jody was a high school senior when her life changed forever. She was an above average student. She took part in several clubs and charity groups. At home
she was required to help around the house.

Jody’s parents agreed to have an exchange student live with them. That’s when things changed. Flora was from France and she had attended the finest schools.
Flora could fix fancy meals, make her own clothes, and fit in well at any social situation.

Oh My God

According to Exodus 20:7, NIV, we must not misuse the name of the Lord, for he doesn’t protect anyone who does so. People will often euphemize with phrases
such as “Oh my goodness”, my heavens etc.

Friendship Jesus Style

It is difficult to find a true forever friend, but when you do you know it is a gift from God. Here’s how you can identify such a person.

They care about you all the time. They don’t seek you out only when they want something from you or when they have nothing better to do. They seek ways
to make the relationship better.

They don’t walk away when you need help or feel you need to talk. If they are too busy during your time of need they don’t really care. God would never
send such a person to you as a loving gift.

What would you do?

Recently, one of our staff members had a somewhat unsettling dream while in bed at night.

In this dream, it was your typical average day. The sun was shining, birds were singing, the breeze was blowing… – You couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful
day!

Considering that this dream’s setting took place during the summer months, it was obviously very hot and humid. For this reason, the whole family had gone
indoors to grab some fresh squeezed lemonade with lots of ice to cool off from what at the time, felt like an outdoor furnace, putting it mildly.

What on earth do I do with this dog?

Yesterday marked the ninth anniversary of a major acquisition in our family. Before that point, we had always had puppies. We would buy the puppy either
from the owner or from another source, and we would train it from there. Additionally, we always had male dogs. But, March 21 of 2008 change that.

Lita came to us in quite a mess. She had just been spayed, and she had lived in the dog pound. The pound people indicated that she was two years old. A
learning experience was in store for all of us.

Original or Copy

I met a mother with two children and a wonderful husband. The children were well behaved and the husband had supported them throughout their marriage.
They had a nice house and enough of everything they needed so they should be very happy, but the lady of the house wasn’t.

There aren’t too many things that she wanted to do in life and yet she has never done any of them. Why because her family or her husband always had a good
reason why not to do them. Here they are:

The characteristics of Grace

In this blog entry, we’re going to take a quick look at one of the most important key elements of our christian faith… Grace.

Before we start really talking a lot however about the topic of grace, I think it’s important that we first understand the source of where all things representing
grace come from… In other words, what is the main outlet, if you will, for grace?

At the end of the day, we could sum it up many different ways. The truth of the matter however is, all grace comes from God. Let me say that again… All
grace comes from God.

Make Your Yes Be Yes

I admit it. I’m a serious person. Perhaps I’m too serious for my own good. But, God put something very important in his Word, which reminded me of a situation
which got my hackles up pretty high earlier today.

In Matthew 5:37 NKJV, Jesus says:

But let your Yes’ be Yes, and your No, No. For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

Boy bird meets girl bird: a lesson in grounding and centering

The president is under constant threat of coup d’état from within, bloodless or otherwise. The Fed has raised interest rates, and people are worried. The
education system is a mess of messes.

Wait a minute though, as something is amiss. It’s springtime here in the Sonoran desert. I’m sitting out on my patio having a drink and listening to God’s
creation in motion. Thoughts of summer evenings in the pool with friends accompanying most of my time are beginning to surface. Is this how I keep myself
grounded and centered in God?
